I have had several blogs over the years since I started publishing my own content on the internet and experimenting with several different niches. I personally came to the conclusion that in order to become successful in the online realm with so many mediums of digital media technologies. Web publishing relies on how much passion you have for the topic you cover. This isn’t something that would be classed as a break thru with online marketing. However, it did take me awhile to realise this personally.
I originally started out with a personal blog that was built solely for personal profit, and from there I launched another couple and a couple more from the Adsense income I was receiving (it wasn’t that much). I noticed that there was one particular site that was having more success than the rest, Especially when compared to my original building block.
The reason why it was more successful was that I didn’t find it obligatory to continuously update it, because I was writing about something I have so much knowledge about and so much passion for the topic.
I had so many sites that had failed and some didn’t even end up getting more than 10 hits a day. I only really made the other blogs because of so many articles online saying you could earn more money from those niches compared to others. These topics I didn’t even have the right to provide a professional opinion let alone a personal one because the knowledge I got was purely from research.
Of course after awhile when I didn’t see any results from a lot of blogs and websites I created I ended up letting them die off. A majority of the domains I simply just let expire. Something that many people don’t understand is that blogging does take a lot of time and energy to not only write but to also maintain. Of course, I would have more things to take advantage of and have to deal with in the real world. Without the dedication you have to put towards your product you won’t see any benefits, no one will read the content, nobody comments, and nobody will link to you. You will eventually see that your site won’t even grow.
When this happens the only thing you have to keep you going is your passion for the topic. I found if I was truly interested and had not only a hunger for knowledge but also to share it. You won’t end up stopping, and you’ll end up making time to write. You won’t be able to see it as some type of chore and you’ll end up enjoying it. This creates an inevitable high level of enthusiasm you’ll find as an individual web publisher.
Having an online digital media platform purely for profit or some type of objective for influence isn’t difficult. You just need to actually care about what you’re doing. You need to care for the site as if it was a car you needed to use every day for work with the utilization to explore and share your knowledge with others.
While profit is important and a part of a blog, you do in a way care about spreading your message and getting others engaged. I personally believe that anyone one could take a great interest in what you could know and transform it into a powerhouse of knowledge for others. All you would really need to understand is the basics of SEO, how to use social media to spread your content, and getting others engaged.
The only primary and essential things are for the passion for your chosen subject. If you persist in publishing you’ll become motivated to learn how to continue to share your content with others. Interest is by far one of the most important ingredients for both an influence and personal gain.
The same system goes’s towards guest bloggers and hiring content writers. I did notice that the ones that are most interested or more involved in the fields are the ones that go very far to ensure that an article is, in fact, more than superb. Ensuring that the person is writing about is something that they have a passion for and willing to learn ensures your success. Engaging with your content writers and providing them with new skills will increase the chances of them continuing to write on your platform.
The last thing you would want to have active on one of your sites is a bot that may just simply re-word posts in hopes for attention, but someone who loves writing even if they are having a bad day. They will enjoy the whole process and have a more meaningful relationship with you and your brand.
One of the things that people should look at when they are interested in starting an online platform is something that they are passionate about what they are willing to write about. This is one of the fundamental building blocks that shouldn’t be looked past in relation to becoming a successful web publisher. Everything else will slowly piece together as you learn new skills. You’ll make new friends and you’ll become to know how to grow your platform.
If you’re thinking about whether you should create a platform and deciding between profit or popular models. The one that you really care about is the one you should pick. In all honesty, you will probably find that your site that makes a lot of money and gives you more influence than any other site is the one you care about. Passion is what transforms into both influence and profit when looking into the long run of your business model.
